Safety Raincoat Manufacturing Materials
The following five types of materials are the raw materials we commonly use to make raincoats (except natural fibers). They each have their own advantages and disadvantages. The most common ones are plastics, which are commonly used in disposable raincoats, and chemical fiber raincoats have a wider range of uses.
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Coated Fabric
Features: low cost, strong waterproofness, but poor air permeability, often used in economical raincoats.
Application: outer main fabric, continuous waterproof membrane formed by coating process.
Polyurethane (PU) Coated Fabric
Features: light weight, good flexibility, both waterproof and certain air permeability, environmentally friendly PU (solvent-free) is more in line with modern standards.
Application: the outer layer of mid-to-high-end raincoats, often used in combination with polyester fiber (polyester) or nylon fabrics.
Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film
Polyester Fiber (polyester)/Nylon fabric
Features: high strength, wear resistance, as the base fabric to carry coating or film, improve overall durability.
Application: Outer or interlayer base fabric, commonly found in Oxford cloth, Taslon and other fabrics.
